Gott er þá að hugsa með sér, hvað er svarið við ráði númer 83. Jú það er auðvelt &#8220;Speed work doesn’t have to be scientific. Try racing to one light post and then jogging to the next.&#8221; er svarið.</h4>
<h4>Apparel Tips</h4>
<li>Wear spandex shorts under your regular running shorts so you don’t chafe “down there.”</li>
<li>Cotton socks will only lead to blisters; invest in socks designed for running.</li>
<li>Ladies, do not skimp on a bra. Even if it costs more than your shoes it’s still a bargain.</li>
<li>Buy running clothes you look good in and that will motivate you to run.</li>
<li>Buy new running clothes at the end of the season when stores dump the old season’s line. Think clearance!</li>
<h4>Community</h4>
<li><strong>Join your local running club—check with your local running store fitness center and/or recreation department to find one. CHECK<br />
</strong></li>
<li>Volunteer at a local race—meet runners support runners and connect with your Community.</li>
<h4>Manners</h4>
<li>Remember to say “Thank You!” to race volunteers (e.g. when you get that cup of water at the aid station) and family and friends who support you.</li>
<li>Conscientiously share the trail with walkers, bikers and other runners.</li>
<li>Always try to balance running with the people you love by making a schedule that involves and is considerate of everyone.</li>
<li>Don’t carry loose change. It will annoy those who are running with you.</li>
<li>Don’t neglect and irritate your family and friends by spending all your time running and talking about running.</li>

<p>Það er komið nýtt heiti á hópinn. Vinnuheitið var Hlaupahópurinn en þar sem hlaupið fer fram á Norður-Amerískri grundu verðum við að gera nafnið skiljanlegt á þeirri tungu líka. Nafnið hlýtur þar af leiðandi að lenda á The Running Club. Club er ég reyndar í efa með og er að velta fyrir mér Group í staðinn. En Club heldur og verður.</p>
<p>Með fylgir video þar sem er farið í grundvallaratriðum yfir leiðina sem hlaupinn er þann 4. november í NYC Marathoni. Mikilvægt er að halda ró sinni þegar horft er á videóið og hugsa um eitthvað jákvætt. Jafnvel reyna að finna happy place til að fara á.</p>
<p>Þetta er þriðja fréttabréf The Running Club og hlýtur það að teljast gott.</p>
<p>Á næstunni : Viðtöl, hlaupaskór, ráðleggingar um mataræði og æfingar, skrítlur, ljóð, farið í gegnum fyrsta fjórðung hlaupsins og markverðir staðir á leiðinni nefndir og svo meira af hvatningarmyndskeiðum</p>

<p>Þetta er viðeigandi spurning því í augnablikinu samanstendur Hlaupahópurinn af fyllibyttum og fitubollum. Svarið vitum við allir meðlimir þessa Hlaupahóps en í stuttum úrdrætti mínum er það svona:</p>
<p>Svarið byrjar á einfaldri spurningu sem við höfum allir þurft að glíma við<em> &#8220;It’s a dilemma that many runners face – can we mix ‘business’ with pleasure?&#8221; </em>og svo<em>   &#8220;Of course, it is possible to down a few pints on a Friday night and run on the Sunday, but it probably isn’t the best way to prepare for a race – especially if it’s one you really want to do well in.&#8221; </em>Þá vitum við það og þurfum alls ekki að spyrja okkur oftar næst þegar valið stendur á milli bjórkönnunar og hlaupaskónna. Fyrsta fréttabréf var sent út í byrjun janúar svo framvegis verða þau birt hér. Það er game on á New York maraþonið. Meðlimir hlaupahópsins þurfa sem fyrst að finna leið til að skrá sig í hlaupið. Ef hætt er við að hlaupa eru ekki líkur á að sá hinn sami eða sama fái inngöngu í hlaupahóp á næstunni.</p>
<p>Hlaupahópurinn er ekki enn byrjaður að hlaupa og því er hann enn um sinn bara hópur. Það mun samt breytast á næstunni en í lok febrúar byrja skipulagðar æfingar fyrir NYC Marathon sem byrjar þann 4. nóvember 2007.</p>
<p>Svona í lokin vil ég biðja menn um stillingu í bið eftir fréttabréfum. Þau munu koma með réttu millibili því nær sem dregur á hlaupið. Á meðan skil ég ykkur eftir með þessi orð Dr. Phil McGraw sjónvarpssálfræðings.</p>
